HERITAGE & CANNAGE

PARISIAN ART DE VIVRE

PARISIAN ART DE VIVRE

The story of the Scale Canvas intertwines with that of the iconic cannage of the cane-woven bistro chair. Both were born of the same exacting standard: the union of esthetics and utility, beauty and durability, to ensure they stand the test of time, day after day and season after season. As for the cane lattice, it reached its apex at the turn of the last century with the rise of cafés and the rattan industry, when cane weave was ubiquitous enough to become the most recognizable motif in the capital. For this limited edition, Fauré Le Page translates the cane weave of bistro chairs into an original Bistrot canvas.

The Maison asserts its flair for history, for craftsmanship, for art de vivre and for the marriage of line, color and material.

WHERE IT ALL BEGINS

WHERE IT ALL BEGINS

One of the historic shops of the first Fauré Le Page Maison was located at 8 Rue de Richelieu in the former Café Minerve, a centerpiece of neighborhood life around the Palais-Royal. This founding heritage lends the Maison a penchant for gatherings and conviviality that are still part of the brand identity.
Later, the bistro would earn its place in Parisian legend. Its origins date back to the nineteenth century, when Russian soldiers stationed in Paris after the fall of Napoleon’s Empire urged café owners to serve them “bystro”: quickly! The word quickly entered the vernacular to refer to these simple, lively places that are truly the stage on which Parisian life plays out.
